When the weather gets unfriendly up north, my phone starts ringing, and the questions asked are often two-fold; “What’s the weather like there? and what is there to do at this time of the year?”
The daytime temperatures here on the Pacific side of the southern Baja peninsula average 72°F – 76°F on the coast and low 80’s inland. Nighttime temps dip into the mid to low 60’s. Ocean temperatures are currently 70°F – 72°F.
So, what does this weather report mean? Well, it means it’s activity season! Perfect weather for outdoor pursuits.
It’s an ideal time for mountain biking and getting out on the many single-track trails and back roads. Exploration of town on a bicycle or just for transportation is all made easier with the mild temperatures. Guided tours and high-quality rentals are easily arranged. Stop into the local bike shop for insider tips on where to ride based on your skills and interests.
Surfs Up! We get some of the best surf of the year at this time. Storms in the north send swells south and make for fun surf all along our coast. Comfortable water temps make it a great time to take lessons at Playa Los Cerritos, the best and safest beach on the west coast for beginners and experts alike. If you’re a seasoned surfer, take on one of the world-class point breaks that dot the coastline here.
If you’re looking for a more relaxed beach experience, step onto one of the more secluded beaches in the area for a little whale watching. Relax with a cold beverage and watch the sunset into the Pacific.
How about a Horseback ride down a couple miles of deserted coastline or up the mountain to get a look at the incredible flora and fauna living in this unique, rare arid tropical thorn forest?
Visit a remote ranch to get a feel for what life was like 100 years ago.

If you want something a little more exciting, you can rent ATVs for a bit of joy ride into the desert to feel a bit of what it’s like to run the Baja 1000. You can rent anything from a quad moto to a 4 passenger “side by side” to a full-blown off-road racer.
This is our prime growing season, and the organic farms are overflowing with delicious healthy fruits and vegetables. And the weather is perfect for outdoor dining, whether in your new home or in one of the many fine restaurants serving up a fresh, farm-to-table fare, locally caught seafood, and fresh ranch meats. We are food heaven. Even our taco stands serve fresh, locally grown, and produced meat. We Live most of our time here outdoors, so staying socially-distanced and dining out go hand in hand.
